Experience and Expertise

TLC Companies® provides transportation-specific expertise and services to help trucking companies improve operations and save money. We’ve been in business since 1985 and understand the ins and outs of the trucking industry.  We handle everything from payroll, taxes, benefits and workers comp and assist you with driver training and government compliance — and much more.

Who We Are

TLC is the only Professional Employer Organization (PEO) in the United States dedicated solely to the trucking and transportation industry. We’re also the most trusted PEO, serving more than 500 clients of all sizes.

What is a PEO?

A PEO is a full-service administrative employer. You keep full ownership and control of your company and your drivers, while we help you out with administrative duties. When you sign a co-employment agreement with us, we share employer responsibilities.

  • You still run your business and manage your employees.
  • We become the administrative employer of record for tax and insurance purposes.

The Benefits for You

We free you up so you have more time to grow your business. As a co-employer, TLC takes on the administrative responsibilities of payroll, taxes and benefits for you.

  • Manage workers compensation claims and provide dollar one coverage.
  • Administer payroll, taxes and benefits.
  • Provide information related to OSHA and other complicated regulations and handle paperwork when requested by you.
  • Provide you better and less expensive benefit options.
  • Assist you with driver onboarding, training and retention services.
  • Keep your business up to date on safety rules and standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you recognized as an employer at the state and federal level?

Yes. We operate in every state. Many states provide some form of specific licensing, registration or regulation for PEOs and we follow all those rules. The IRS also recognizes our right to withhold and pay federal income and unemployment taxes for your worksite employees.

Is this the same as employee staffing?

No. TLC does not supply employees to worksites. We provide services and benefits to your existing workforce. We can help you with recruiting (via 3rd party partnerships), onboarding employees and keeping them happy. If you choose to no longer use our services, your employees will still be your employees.

Will you use offshore people to work on our account?

No. We don’t use any offshore services or companies.

What if we already have people who do this?

We are not in the business of eliminating jobs. Many of our clients have very capable people who manage payroll, driver screening, safety and HR. With our services, they have time for other productive activities.

Does a PEO arrangement with you impact a collective bargaining agreement?

No. PEOs work well in union and non-union worksites. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) recognizes that in co-employment relationships, worksite employees are included in your collective bargaining unit. We fully abide by the terms of all collective bargaining agreements. PEOs endorse the rights of employees to organize, or not organize, under state and federal laws.
